Toyota is using their advanced engineering knowledge for a good cause. Specifically, the Japanese car manufacturer is bringing mobility to those who don't have it and giving them a new, more independent life. So what is Toyota doing you may ask? Read on!

Most of us often take our mobility for granted since making dinner, picking things up off the floor, grabbing something out of a cupboard or closet is not a problem. However, part of the population is not so lucky and does not have the capability to do everyday tasks.

Thanks to Toyota,  members of the disabled community are about to regain some independence. Toyota has just revealed a new robot specially designed to help the disabled live more independently, called the Human Support Robot (HSR).

This is not the first time a company develops a robot to aid the disabled. There are, however, a few things that set the Toyota HSR apart from other robots. First, it can grow in height, from nearly three feet to just over four feet. Second, it has a single arm that can extend two-and-a-half feet. Complete with a gripper, it can pick things up that weigh as much as 2.6 lbs and close curtains!

We all know Toyota as a reliable car, truck and SUV manufacturer.  But we also want to share Toyota's strong human side. This is something that makes us proud to carry the brand as well as its award-winning new Toyota lineup. Be sure to stay tuned to Capitol Toyota of Salem to learn more!
