You'd have to twist our arms pretty hard to make us come up with anything we here at Capitol Toyota don't like about the Toyota Camry and the Prius. With the former being the best-selling car in the United States and the latter arguably being the reason for hybrid success, there's a whole lot to love about both. Incredible fuel efficiencies for their respective types, comfortable interiors with convenient features, safety you can rely on, and affordable prices are just a few reasons to take a closer look

However, the style is being reconsidered by Toyota President Akio Toyoda, as he wants to see them move towards a more thrilling look. But these changes come with a risk.

The Camry has a huge customer base - an estimated 5 million drivers today - so a big change could upset those who are long-time fans. The next version, instead of being a huge overhaul, will focus on a more emotional impact. Enhanced interior materials and a slightly altered exterior aesthetic are on the table, though specific details aren't available as of yet.

Something similar can be said for the Prius as well, as driver loyalty is high. The automaker wants to maximize on the rectangular, aerodynamic design for even more efficiency. Tokuo Fukuichi, a Toyota senior managing officer and head of global design, stated it best when we stated "We have to try to make a ‘future feeling’ and ‘best in the world [fuel economy]'. If we couldn’t get the best mileage, we don’t need a next Prius."1

We're excited to see where they go with the redesigns, that's for sure. Stay tuned in to the blog for details as they come, or drop by our Salem, OR dealership for a look at what the current models have to offer.
