2017 Toyota 86 is Getting a Direct Injection of Performance Features in an 860 Special Edition Iteration

Sports car enthusiasts will remember March 13, 2017. Toyota sped out the gate in Torrance, CA with a fresh press release bespeaking 2017 Toyota 86 getting some serious new perks.

The 2017 Toyota 86 base, we all know and love. Its 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder DOHC engine shells out a zippy 205 horsepower at up to 7,000 rpm with propulsive torque at up to 156 lb-ft at 6400 rpm. 86's rear-wheel drivetrain with paddle shifter-equipped 6-speed auto transmission features Dynamic Rev Management to give that solid road feel underfoot. The road-trip mix really rocks through the vehicle's 8-speaker Pioneer audio system, 6-way driver and 4-way front-passenger seats with integrated headrests and knee cushions delivering sport-driving comfort as you ride. And there's performance style to match, with 17-inch twisted-spoke alloy wheels, front fender-mounted vortex generators and 86 badge, chrome-tipped dual exhaust, and aerodynamics-enhancing rear bumper lower diffuser. Not to mention much more that has to be experienced to be believed.

The new 2017 860 Special Edition takes the build to the next level. Halo White as well as exclusive Supernova Orange hue options with black body stripe contrast will tow the aggressive line with a unique aerodynamic underbody panel and rear spoiler, 17-inch alloy wheels and piercing LED fog lights to accent them. The interior is becoming a veritable sport showcase, with a 4.2-inch multi-information display that offers G-force meter, stop watch, horsepower, torque curve, engine coolant and oil temperature and mpg information, as well as heated front seats in contrasting black leather with orange stitching extending visual cues to the leather-trimmed steering wheel, shift boot and parking brake lever. Toyota's laying on thickly the premium features, too, with 860 Special Edition including smart key with push-button start, touch-activated door unlock capability, and a customizable cabin made possible by dual-zone automatic climate control.

A limited minting of 860 vehicles in each bodycolor become available later in March 2017, and we at Capitol Toyota can't wait to see them, especially since our 783 Auto Group Avenue NE showroom here in Salem, OR has plenty of the already laudable 2017 Toyota 86.
