Toyota is planning on rolling out a full line of various Prius cars under that new nameplate. So far, a minivan, small car and plug-in variants are headed to dealership lots over the next two years. The Japanese automaker will start its sale of a Prius station wagon / minivan next summer, as either a 2011 or 2012 model.

Toyota's plug-in version of the Prius that can get 30 miles on a charge, and will be on lots starting later in the year.

Toyota unveiled these new vehicles this week at its annual dealer meeting in Las Vegas. A Toyota spokesman briefed those in attendance on the new models, who were mostly dealer franchise owners and press officials.

Toyota spokesman Sam Butto declined to comment on any specific product plans, "We will be coming out with some additional Prius products, but that's really all I can say at this time," Butto said.

Toyota hopes to expand the Prius name to a full family of vehicles. Prius is the best-selling hybrid in the US, according to sales figures. It's also the oldest hybrid car to be sold in the world, as it recently celebrated a 10 year anniversary.

Toyota has had a rough year, as they've recalled more than 10 million cars and trucks over the last year for various issues, including a problem with the antilock braking system in its Prius hybrid. Toyota said  it has fixed 86% of recalled hybrids over the braking issue.

Also at the dealer meeting in Vegas, Toyota President Akio Toyoda sought to reassure his 1,200 U.S. dealers that the company is on track for sales growth in the US, said in a statement on Thursday. The company also told dealers of a new plan to make standard a free maintenance program that it first rolled out earlier this year. That plan would include free basic maintenance for two years.
