Quality Control (QC) is a key factor affecting the integrity of automakers end product and ultimately customer satisfaction and loyalty worldwide. In an effort to further step up their QC, Toyota has opened two more U.S. product field quality offices.
Located in Houston, Texas and Jacksonville, Florida, the offices will put more Toyota researchers in the field to help catch and address quality problems as early as possible. These new offices will complement two already opened in San Francisco, California and New York, New York. There will also be a fifth office, opening in Denver, Colorado.
Each Toyota product field quality office is comprised of three to five engineers dedicated to working on a specific set of issues. The specialties in the Denver office are: SUVs and high-altitude performance. The Jacksonville office specializes in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and drivability. In Houston, the engineers focus on trucks. In San Francisco: hybrid and alternative-fuel vehicles. And in New York: cold-weather performance and salt corrosion.
Toyota's five product field quality offices are part of a larger six-part plan laid out in February to address concerns raised by past recalls. The massive Japanese automaker pledges to improve quality inspections, be more thorough in collecting pertinent data from customers, create focused regional research centers, consult more non-Toyota affiliated experts; and make its regional subsidiaries more autonomous.
Toyota Motor Sales USA Inc. is Toyota's U.S. subsidiary based in Torrance, California.
