Toyota has begun letting owners of the FJ Cruiser know of its latest recall, which involves the SUV's front seatbelt retractors. And though specific owners will be notified to contact their local Toyota dealerships to have a fix made free of charge, we here at Capitol Toyotaa wanted to bring it to your attention today in order to help you fix this issue as quickly as possible.

So what's the specific problem at hand? The front seatbelt retractors in the Toyota FJ Cruiser happen to be mounted on the rear driver- and passenger-side doors. While this alone isn't an issue, it turns out that the retractor may not have been properly installed during production, resulting in diminished structural integrity over time.

To be more specific, excessive opening and closing of the rear doors can result in cracks forming on both the door panel and the retractor itself. If these cracks go on unaddressed, the retractor can eventually become dismounted from the door panel.

While this certainly is a cause for concern, it is important to remember that Toyota has indeed instructed all of its dealerships - including ours at 783 Auto Group Avenue in Salem, ORG - to implement a fix for free. All you have to do if you happen to drive an FJ Cruiser is contact us online or by phone at (888) 711-3561.
