While you may think of Toyota as a Japanese brand, the Toyota Camry scored number one on the Cars.com American-Made Index for the second consecutive year, and the sixth time overall.

According to Cars.com, there is "no easy way to determine just how American a car is." That's why the automotive website makes it easy for consumers, by making an annual list of vehicles that meet two simple requirements:

  • Assembled in the U.S.A.
  • Made with at least 75 percent domestic parts

It doesn't sound difficult to achieve, but this year, only eight models were eligible for the list, and only three were made by American-owned companies.

The Toyota Camry is assembled in Georgetown, KY at a massive facility the size of 169 football fields. The plant supports nearly 8,000 full-time U.S. employees, and has an annual capacity to produce 550,000 new vehicles, and 600,000 engines. Ranking third on the American-Made Index this year is the Toyota Sienna, another regular.
