If you’ve ever been out walking, jogging or cycling and had a close encounter with a motor vehicle, you know how scary it can be. In fact, approximately 125,000 accidents occur each year between pedestrians and automobiles. Of that number, roughly 2,800 involve so-called “quiet cars,” like hybrid and electric vehicles.
Regulators brought these concerns to the government and, in 2010, Congress passed a law stating that these vehicles must use some sort of noise-generating device to alert individuals of their presence on the road.
