4 Reasons Why Your Power Windows May Not Be Working
The modern conveniences of electric motors allow us to live much more relaxed lives. Gone are the days of having to manually crank your car windows open. It's a little luxury most of us don't think to consider. But what if your car's power window just stopped working one day at the most inopportune time? To get a better understanding as to why your power windows might be malfunctioning, consider the following four potential problems.

4. Window Switch is Bad
Switches can be a finicky thing and one possible reason for a power window to fail is the switch. This could be due to several things, including a wiring issue or physical damage, but it could also just be the wear and tear those buttons receive. From the constant pull and push of yanking on the switch to close an open window when it starts raining or frantically pressing it to let a breeze in on a hot summer day, it's possible that the button has just kicked the bucket. If so, it's best replaced in our authorized service center at Capitol Toyota dealership.

3. Electrical Problems
Inside your car door is a bundle of wires, mechanics, and a motor. These things contribute to powering the window. When a wire, or other electrical component gets damaged or disconnected in some way, it can cause problems with your window's ability to roll up and down. This can be frustrating, and inconvenient, but it's fixable. When you bring such wiring issues into Capitol Toyota to have a mechanic work on it, we'll find the solution to your problem, and get your power window up (or down) and running again.
2. Regulator Arm is Disconnected
Another thing that could be causing your car's power window to malfunction is the regulator arm -- the arm used to control the position of the window -- is somehow disconnected from the glass. In the good ol' days this used to be a handle you'd turn manually, now it does so electrically. Either way, the regulator can become disconnected from your window, making it impossible to get the window up or down until the issue is fixed.

1. Motor Burned Out
As mentioned above, there is a motor inside the door casing which powers the window. If this burns out, there is no way for your car's power window to work. In order to be fixed, the door must be opened up, complicated technologically dissected, and the motor will likely need to be removed. Sometimes, a repaired window motor isn't possible or won't be as good as a new one, so replacement may be a better option. Once the operation is complete, our technicians will put everything back together, carefully, so you won't even know they were there other than a power window that works properly again. So, come to Capitol Toyota to have broken power windows fixed. We look forward to showing you a better dealership service experience.
