The Prius may be Toyota's poster child. However, the company is invested in more than just electric/gas hybrids. You might remember back in 2008 when the Japanese automaker promised to display a CNG-electric hybrid Camry at the Los Angeles Auto Show. "With this concept, we are confirming our interest in pursuing CNG [natural gas],"1 said Irv Miller, Vice President, Toyota Motor Sales' U.S. division.

Since 2008, we haven't really heard too much about Toyota's pursuit of natural-gas-powered vehicles. However, a recent alliance made with Constellation Energy proves that the issue remains top of mind.  According to recent reports, Toyota Motor Corp.'s North American engineering and manufacturing operations has made a deal with Constellation Energy, employing the firm to manage its natural gas needs.

Among the many things Constellation Energy will handle for Toyota are natural gas supply, risk management, hedging, budget analysis, energy market monitoring.  The Baltimore-based company will also monitor relevant regulatory and legislative issues for the automaker. More specifically, the company is expected to provide risk management services to 14 Toyota facilities, and it will supply natural gas to nine different Toyota sites throughout North America.
